ABSTRACT

Teaching may appeal more as a serious vocational option than its current image as difficult and unmanageable in the early years and suited only for superheroes at leadership level. Serving leaders should be reminded of the Framework and encouraged to use it in their work. NPQH and NPQEL should include an opportunity for assessors to ascertain that candidates are able to reflect using abstract concepts and make an independent decision based on accepted good practice, rather than learning right answers or waiting to be told what to do by the regulator. Aspirant leaders should understand the usefulness of the Framework in their decision-making training and be given opportunities to apply it to real-life case studies. Trainee teachers should be introduced to the Framework early so that they understand the critically important role they play in national life.
