ABSTRACT

Hypopigmentation from chemical and physical agents represents postinflammatory hypopigmentation that develops following external insults to the skin. Among physical causes, heat, cold, trauma, and ionizing and nonionizing radiations are known to alter skin pigmentation. External contact of skin with certain chemicals may result in hypopigmentation and chemical leukoderma. This chapter discusses the epidemiology, etiology, clinical features, and management of hypopigmentation from chemical and physical agents.
