ABSTRACT

Everybody who wants to use a model should be concerned whether the model and the results produced with it are correct. The meaning of the word correct is clear at first sight, but its true meaning can be difficult to characterise. Words like robust, accurate, reliable, representing the reality pop up when thinking about it deeper. We can even dig into the literature about the theory of verification and validation of computational models and find out in [167, 170] that, e.g. validation is a substantiation that a computerised model within its domain of applicability possesses a satisfactory range of accuracy consistent with the intended application of the model. We try to use simpler words.
