ABSTRACT

The human race is coming up against two types of limits. The first is the degradation of our planet's natural environment. One major source of global environmental problems is unsustainable levels of human activity, which are draining the planet's energy and resources, decreasing biological diversity, and raising the risks of food and water shortages, as well as the risks associated with climate change, notably global warming. These phenomena have, in turn, begun to have a large and direct impact on human activity. The second limit is our decreasing appetite for material consumption. The people who were separated from nature and the community because of industrialization followed a path of excessive material consumption and unsustainable expansion. This led to the erosion of interpersonal bonds and degradation of the environment. Then, these people who had consumed boundlessly began to feel a decrease in their appetite for material consumption.
