ABSTRACT

Piezoelectric materials have gained considerable attention among the scientific community because of its profound potential applications. They are capable of generating electrical output when subjected to mechanical strain. Nowadays, piezoelectric materials are widely used to harvest energy. This chapter deals with the introduction of piezoelectric materials, history of piezoelectric materials, theory, classification, and applications of piezoelectric materials. Moreover, this chapter covers a detailed description of piezoelectric polymer nanocomposites, its advantages and applications over ceramic-based piezoelectric ceramics.
