ABSTRACT

This chapter presents an exploratory analysis regarding the interpretation of the word bullying and representative research within three primary contexts in which bullying appears (school, workplace, senior citizen community). In addition to identifying research findings, the chapter also includes an application of those conclusions by presenting a brief exemplar in each communication environment. The chapter further introduces the importance of employing components related to various communication models, underscoring the value of examining foundational information as topics are investigated. The chapter concludes with a discussion of the holistic approach to communication, one relevant template to consider in the examination of bullying behavior.
