ABSTRACT

This chapter describes an analysis to assess the risk of biomechanical overload of the upper limbs based on a representative group of small building contractors performing similar activities. It shows the shifts, breaks, and durations of nonrepetitive tasks for each group in the representative observation period. The chapter describes the analytical distribution of tasks over the 4 weeks of a representative month and the duration in minutes of each task for the three homogeneous groups. It shows bar graphs that briefly compare the different net durations of repetitive work performed on each day of the 4 weeks in the representative month by the three homogeneous groups. The chapter provides a comparison of the percentage distribution of each intrinsic posture of the spine and lower limbs in the three homogeneous groups. It describes a short qualitative and quantitative comparison of upper limb postures in the same three groups.
