ABSTRACT

Finite-value network (FVN) is a kind of systems whose state, input and output take values from a finite set. FVNs have wide applications in the research fields such as systems biology, game theory, digital circuits, finite automata, graph theory, fuzzy control and nonlinear feedback shift register. This chapter recalls some basic concepts of FVNs and semi-tensor product (STP) of matrices. Firstly, the model of FVNs is introduced and some practical examples are given to illustrate the model. Secondly, some necessary notations are listed. Thirdly, the concept and some basic properties of STP are recalled, which is the basic tool of this book.
