ABSTRACT

The purpose of this chapter is to describe the research method used in this research. The research utilises a qualitative research approach, in particular the case research method. The data were collected from the case organisation, for the period 1997–2017, using multiple data sources including a questionnaire, semi-structured interviews, and relevant internal and external documents. The data was used to address the following questions: (i) How did the performance measurement system in a bank operating in Pakistan change over the last decade? (ii) What factors influenced the changes? and (iii) How did the bank respond to the factors driving change in the performance measurement system?
