ABSTRACT
Law enforcement will encounter the solo suicidal subject in his or her home and will have been called by friends, relatives, mental health professionals or neighbors. The police officer who negotiates with the suicidal subject who is intent on Suicide by Cop is dealing with a deadly snake. Law enforcement will not have a problem recognizing the solo suicidal subject. In recent years many jails, correctional institutions, and police departments have purchased and practiced with a multitude of less than lethal weapons. The law enforcement must pick up the pieces and deal with the consequences of poor public planning by our local, state, and federal legislators. Mental health professionals deal with depressed people on such a frequent basis that many of them are required to talk with a peer to help them deal with the subsequent depression they feel.
