ABSTRACT

Usually a neuron may have anywhere between 200–1000 mitochondria, depending on its function and metabolic activity. Therefore, we should expect anywhere between 200–250 CBs in a physico-chemically-injured neuron such as Pukinje neuron. However, at any given time, we identified 10–12 mature CBs. The rest remained in different stages of origin, development, maturation, degradation, and elimination by charnolophagy depending on the nutritional status of the animal.
