ABSTRACT

This chapter explores the importance of having the right people on the team and what a relentless culture of accountability looks like. Everyone on the team shows up to the meeting well prepared regarding the client's business, competitors, market, and strategy. When fans come to watch UConn play basketball, Auriemma noted, "UConn does not just owe fans a victory, the team wants their fans to walk out of the building having given them an experience they will never forget." Exceptional advertising at MullenLowe and national championships at UConn are created by teams of selfless individuals who understand the concept of abundance. UConn's culture of accountability would fall apart quickly if the program moved away from the practice of recruiting good teammates. If leaders served as enforcers, they would attempt to impose their will. Instead, they lead by teaching others that, in being accountable to one another, they can achieve true abundance.
