ABSTRACT
Safe havens are places where we are free to be our authentic selves. For most of us, there are few places we can regard as safe havens, places where we can truly be ourselves, away from the pressure of always putting our best face forward. One of the advantages of a professional peer advisory group is that it provides a safe haven for CEOs and business leaders. Throughout the workshops, groups' ratings of their status against what they define as ideal varied greatly among the factors, with one exception. Carol Tometsko is the Chief Executive Officer and President of Litron Laboratories, which she co-founded in 1976 with her late husband, Dr. Andrew M. Tometsko. Without the safe haven Carol experienced as a peer advisory group member, it is unlikely she would have created a group for scientists.
