ABSTRACT
The main pericardial syndromes include pericarditis, pericardial effusion, cardiac tamponade, and constrictive pericarditis. The current chapter provides a comprehensive updated review of pericardial diseases with a focus on the elderly in order to guide clinicians. Although there are limited age-specific data, new updated guidelines have addressed the management of pericardial diseases in the elderly for the first time.
