ABSTRACT
This chapter deals with neosporosis in felids. Cats are susceptible to infection. Additionally, information on serological responses of cats to N. caninum infection was compiled previously. Briefly, 3 trials were performed. In trial no. 1, three 3-day-old kittens were SC inoculated with tachyzoites, 2 died on days 14–17 PI, and the kitten that survived was seropositive. In trial no. 2, an adult cat seroconverted (>1:800 on day 29 PI) after oral infection with N. caninum tissue cysts. In trial no. 3, three 3-month-old cats elicited a pronounced humoral immune response after IM inoculation with NC1 tachyzoites.
