ABSTRACT

Globally, there is a need to explore the ability of natural products to boost mental health, focus and concentration, and cognitive function. Studies have demonstrated that proper nutrition in conjunction with physical, mental, and social activities may have a greater benefit in maintaining or improving brain health and function. Consumption of marine fishes and general seafood has been recommended for long-term nutritional intervention to preserve mental health, hinder neurodegenerative processes, and sustain cognitive capacities in humans. Alzheimer's disease (AD) is an age-related neurodegenerative disease affecting the elderly and there is hardly any effective therapy. The loss of cholinergic neurons in the brain has been demonstrated to be a part of the aging process itself. This loss is considered an important element in the process of memory loss or memory impairment including dementia. Glaucoma is a disease in which there is an increase in pressure within the eye, which ultimately causes damage to the optic nerve and irreversible blindness can occur.
