ABSTRACT
Utilization of algal biomass for the production of various types of oils such as biodiesel and biojet fuel has attracted research attention around the world. This chapter provides a comprehensive review on the algal types and their suitability for oil production, algal biochemistry, and monitoring of the cellular components of microalgae, different techniques on cultivation and harvesting of algal biomass, oil extraction, and 214its upgradation techniques, standards for biodiesel and its stability issue, world scenario on the biodiesel production form algal biomass. It also reviews the biojet fuel production from algal biomass.
