ABSTRACT

This chapter examines certain basics of Project Management, particularly with respect to the Systems Development Life Cycle. Once a Project Charter is approved and funded by Top Management, the Project Manager, in concert with the Project Team and with input from all significant Project Resource Members, begins work on a detailed Project Plan. A project plan and project charter, including project scope, should be put in writing, outlining the work to be performed. Functional Requirements set, in terms of the User, how specific solutions are to operate and behave. The most important part of any human capital management (HCM) Project Map is Data Requirements. The Analysis and Design phase delivers a complete Needs Analysis Road Map and Inventory for the Project. Depending on the size of the HCM System Project, the Project Team Manager may be an IT or HCMS Manager, or she or he may Jointly Manage the Project.
