ABSTRACT

This chapter examines the common human capital management systems (HCMS) components in all major HCM Functional areas. The Competitive Survey Data Table is one of the Major tables in Compensation Administration with regard to Salary Survey Analysis—a critical component in Market Survey Projects. Normalization of Relational Databases helps ensure that Code-related information is not stored more than necessary in a Database. The Employee Profile Table contains information related to internal staff members that is not specific to a particular pay effective date. Modern Performance Management Systems are designed to track performance of employees in departments, business units, or the entire enterprise and ideally with features that include dashboards, reports, and analytics. Position Control is used to align Human Capital budgets for employee salaries by position(s) held by each employee. Payroll is the process by which employees receive salary and wages. To support Salary Survey Analysis systems, Aging Rates are often stored in the Job Level Table.
