ABSTRACT

In most European countries, the evaluation of universities is a key mechanism for the improvement of the educational services provided by these universities. Every year, students’ performance is analyzed by several stakeholders, including governmental agencies and the media. At the same time, advances in information and 106communication technology (ICT) and data analysis techniques allow schools and universities to make use of massive amounts of data in their daily management. This chapter focuses on the use of data on students’ performance to benchmark universities, and illustrates the potential contribution of data analytics to the improvement of universities’ processes.
