ABSTRACT

User Research is first steps when a visual designer starts to plan the entire process, and it has two main methods: qualitative and quantitative. This chapter covers types of usability, providing interface designers with a concise analysis of each type. In large projects, it is advisable to hire experts on usability and statistics, since successful user evaluation requires professional help. While interface designers have knowledge of usability and user research, they do not necessarily need to be experts in those fields. When testing the interaction of a user with an interface, first-click testing is very important. In a focus group, users share their opinions about the service provided by the experience of the interface. Heuristic evaluation is used to locate problems with the interface without testing and may be applied at any time during the process, as needed. Reviews may be informal to facilitate the design of the interface and functionality.
