ABSTRACT

Talent management and retention is an important exercise in balancing the needs of the company and the needs of the employees. Recognizing that managing and retaining the resources needed to render an organization successful takes financial investment. Knowledge retention and transfer involves capturing knowledge in the organization so that it can be transferred to another member of the organization and used at a later date. When speaking of employee retention, reference is being made to an organization's ability to hold on to his or her talented resources. Having access to career growth and development opportunities is a desire of most employees. They want to continue to develop and grow their skills. Meaningful and satisfying work provides the stimulus for people to go to work day after day and exert the effort needed to succeed. When employees trust their leadership team, they are willing to do whatever they can to ensure success of the business.
