ABSTRACT

First released in 2005, Unity is one of the most powerful game engines on the market, besides being the most popular. This chapter describes the installation of Unity and its supporting files for different platforms. In Unity, a working layout is split into different sections, each taking one or more tabs. The Project tab in the lower part of the layout is dedicated to showing all the assets for a game. The Hierarchy tab in the top part of the layout contains all the objects present in the current scene. Navigating a scene and interacting with its object can be done by using the set of icons that are, by default, displayed on top of the Hierarchy tab. The chapter also explains the uses of a set of icons to move in the scene and manipulate selected objects.
