ABSTRACT

One of the best tools by far for quickly making own sounds for games having a “retro” feel is Dr. Petter’s SFXR. This chapter discusses the properties for a typical sound effect, including a neat preview window. Unity can import Wave, Aiff, and Tracker modules and then store them on disk in the formats required by the specific platform. The chapter describes how to change the size of the 3D icons in a scene via the Gizmo menu and how to turn the star sprite into a child of moving platform. It explains the use of an empty object as a marker for the player’s spawning position and discusses the creation of an enemy object that can move back and forth.
