ABSTRACT

This chapter explores the relationships among cloud computing, Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA), and Web services (WS) and explains the significance of integrating SOA with mobile cloud computing. It discusses the implementations of WS in cloud computing from the perspective of SOA. WS-Coordination is a WS specification that provides a framework of context management in which the activity’s coordination context can be tracked for the purpose of supporting distributed applications. Universal Description, Discovery, and Integration is an Extensible Markup Language protocol represented as an XML-based registry that is used for make WS discoverable on the Internet and integrable with other WS applications by providing register mechanisms. The Web component takes responsibility for transforming the Simple Object Access Protocol message into a method call that can be used for the local Web service implementation methods. The integration of SOA and cloud computing starts with a series of decision-making procedures. The decision-making missions mainly focus on defining targets or entities.
