ABSTRACT

Chapter 7 presents the essential and invaluable tool of dimensional analysis (highlighted as another major theme throughout the textbook) that supplements the theory of fluid mechanics, and yields an uncalibrated deterministic mathematical model of the stochastically-behaving flow resistance for turbulent flow. A thorough and systematic approach to using dimensional analysis to derive empirical flow resistance equations, as well as theoretical equations is presented; a clear explanation as to how the variables are chosen when applying dimensional analysis is presented and applied.
