ABSTRACT

František Sirovic's study Søren A. Kierkegaard: A Philosophical-Critical Analysis of His Authorship was published by the Society of the Divine Word in 2004. The author of this monograph was a well-known Slovak philosopher and theologian. The author is convinced that although Kierkegaard is very inspirational in formulating and pointing to the core problems connected with human beings, he is unable to solve them. Sirovic sees a complication in understanding Kierkegaard's authorship; namely, he finds two dichotomies in Kierkegaard's works. The book is primarily concerned with Kierkegaard's philosophy of life stages. The author also tries to provide a comparison between Kierkegaard and Hegel. Sirovic interprets Kierkegaard's life stages as strictly separated. Kierkegaard is also blamed for a lack of faith. Sirovic is convinced that human abilities are given by God, and so they are both "natural" and "transcendent", that is, both we and God can develop them. The book is a good starting point for studying Kierkegaard.
