ABSTRACT

Ironía y destino. La filosofía secreta de Søren Kierkegaard is a compilation of five essays edited and prefaced by Fernando Pérez-Borbujo and published in Barcelona as a part of the bicentennial celebration of Søren Kierkegaard's birth. Another important aspect of this publication is the participation of Luis I. Guerrero, María José Binetti, and Jon Stewart, each of whom contributes a chapter. The purpose of the book is situated between popular dissemination and an academic approach to Kierkegaard's thought. The work's intention of dissemination and its critical purposes are unsuccessful due to its unclear structure and methodology. First, in spite of the book's commemoration of the 200 years of Kierkegaard's birth and his great influence on the twentieth century, the authors do not always employ the most recent critical edition of Kierkegaard works. Second, the structure of the book reflects the cliché in Kierkegaard exegesis of the three existential stages.
