ABSTRACT

Kierkegaards tro och andra Kierkegaardstudier, published in 1944, was the final monograph on Kierkegaard written by priest and liberal theologian Torsten Bohlin prior to his death. Although Bohlin acknowledges with a deep sense of gratitude that his thought has been significantly enriched by his career-long study of Kierkegaard, he makes it clear in the Preface that in this work he assumes a critical stance. For the first two chapters, Bohlin covers Kierkegaard's unhappy engagement and the question of Kierkegaard as an apologist. In the final chapter, Bohlin engages with the topic of Kierkegaard and community. Kierkegaards tro och andra Kierkegaardstudier received a good amount of academic attention in the years immediately following its publication, and even a few more recent Kierkegaard scholars have engaged with the work. It may be said that even though Bohlin's book offers little by way of novel content, it may nevertheless still be counted as making an important contribution to Kierkegaard studies.
