ABSTRACT
This chapter presents the case study of Claire. Like lots of freshman going to college, Claire had been a public-school kid. When Claire and Ky (Claire’s roommate) were told by their college that they would be sharing a dorm room, they connected on Facebook and Instagram. Ky’s parents had left them with an apartment-sized refrigerator and plenty of snacks, but despite a room full of goodies, awesome matching comforters, and unlimited access to Netflix, both Claire and Ky quickly began finding reasons to leave their room. Claire and her parents had set up a bank account in Claire’s new location, and Claire connected it to PayPal for easy shopping. Claire was considered a beauty in her own right with her long, straight hair and sharp but small nose. Claire and Ky made a striking pair moving around campus. Instagram pictures of the two of them were popular with friends.
