ABSTRACT

In this chapter, the authors identify another starting point for rethinking the existing framework of RE, highlighting the normatively gendered dimensions of the current settlement. They outline a series of four conceptual personae that are metaphorically-inflected tools for developing practices of the imagination that can both uncover - and move beyond - these deeply embedded forms of thinking. We argue, moreover, that these tools can be used to support the capacities of students and teachers in mapping the unknown in gender terms.
