ABSTRACT
In this essay I reflect on the challenges of conducting collaborative transnational historical research in East Asia. This draws on my participation in various collaborative transnational history projects. The challenges involve working in diverse languages, coming to terms with different terminologies and dealing with different historical understandings in each local academic context.
