ABSTRACT

Historical philosophies of criminal justice reform have been tried and implemented multiple times over the past few centuries. Criminal justice theories and the work of theorists have set the standard for many initiatives. These theories and proposals for criminal justice transformation are still impacting the criminal justice system today. To address the need for shifts in our society, there needs to be change in criminal justice and this transformation is evident in criminal justice reform. A critical part of this initiative was to tackle the disparities among various sub-groups and create equity, access, and quality. More recently, other government proposed programs were instituted to help the criminal justice system compete with other nations' effectiveness in countering gangs. There are other approaches that help gang members and other people who have been radicalized. One such organization is called ExitUSA.
