ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses case studies of gang members. It was early in December 1998 when Garrick Plonczynski was working as a patrolman in the southern part of Manatee County. At approximately one o'clock on a Sunday morning in December a call went out at a local bar known as Scooters. Scooters was notoriously known to be a biker bar. There were never any calls for services at Scooters because the biker gang usually took care of their own business. During the early hours of September 5, 2006, members of Sur 13 had a gang meeting at a local leader's home. At this meeting numerous members were present. Among these members were Carlos and Hugo as well as female gang members such as Nora. Deputy Plonczynski researched the past criminal history for the arrested juvenile. As the suspect was so young, there was nothing to find. He made contact with the juvenile's mother and spoke to her at length over the phone.
