ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on concepts discussed in the preceding chapters of this book. The book examines the criminal gangster mindset and offers perspectives on predictive gang prevention strategies. The real-world example in the book demonstrates a holistic approach towards combatting this surging societal problem. The book outlines the evolution of gang membership: from a state of interest, to association, to hardcore, "O. G". (Original Gangster) status. Credence was given to the role—and importance—of the immediate family of the gang member, whether they are supportive of the member's activities or vehemently opposed to it. A case study in the book argues how law enforcement has evolved from creating Gang Units and Violent Crime Task Forces, documenting and tracking of gang activity. The book explains how law enforcement has used and continues to use a multi-pronged approach in combating criminal street gang violence.
