ABSTRACT

The situation of manufacturing market is more and more competitive. The assembly line balancing is an important means to improve the production management level. This chapter explains the research by using scientific research methods and tools, like witness simulation, dual-population genetic algorithm, MATLAB and Witness based on the drive assembly line of F company for the study. The research methods and conclusions not only have some reference value, but also have a direct practical fuction on optimizing the other similar production lines. F company reducer assembly system is composed of a series of serial and parallel manufacturing units, which mainly consists of the assembly line and sub-assembly line, with a total of 14 stations. The chapter describes the assembly line of F company. The tests and inspections of the assembly line found out the original one was seriously imbalanced by using Witness simulation modeling. The double population genetic algorithm was adopted to study the assembly line balancing optimization.
