ABSTRACT
In this chapter, we provide a formula for writing the proposal introduction. First impressions count, and the introduction section of your proposal must be terrific. Depending on the length of your proposal, the introduction should be between one paragraph and one page long. Regardless of the length, you must use the opportunity to concisely ‘frame’ your proposal for the reviewer and orient them to what they are about to read. Two introduction sections, drawn from successfully funded proposals, are discussed and decoded.
