ABSTRACT

Coaches bring to the process both personal characteristics and professional expertise in rational emotive behavioural coaching (REBC). Coachees bring to the process a range of strengths, capabilities and resources, upon which they will be encouraged to draw during the process of addressing their problems. In addressing coachees' emotional problems and their emotionally problematic responses to obstacles to practical and emotional problem-solving, coachees use REBC's 'Situational ABCDEF' framework. Development-Focused Rational Emotive Behavioural Coaching (DF-REBC) concentrates on areas of coachee development. In DF-REBC, the coach's prime directive is to enable coachees, who are doing satisfactorily in life, to get more out of their lives in a range of life areas. Problem-Focused Rational Emotive Behavioural Coaching (PF-REBC) concentrates on coachees' practical and emotional problems of living. In PF-REBC, the coach's prime directive is to help coachees effectively address their practical and emotional problems of living.
