ABSTRACT

The vast majority of people have one very good quality. They are honest. Engineers also have a good quality, but it often can be a problem. They are modest. Intellectual property (IP), is lawyer's jargon for a group of legal rights to the ownership of innovation, information or trading position. The IP rights that can protect innovation and information are the copyright, the design right, the registered design and the patent. An IP right creates a monopoly. Government whether national government or at the level of the EU instinctively dislikes monopolies because they restrict freedom of trade. The usual procedure to take when infringement has been found is to take legal action, to claim damages for loss of business or profit plus asking the court to grant an injunction, to prevent further infringement. Copyright is a right of protection against copying all or a recognisable part of something that has required skill and labour to write or draw.
