ABSTRACT
This military encounter on the border of Castile and Navarre on 13 April 1367 is the first of two important battles of the Castilian civil war of 1366–1369. The second and decisive one took place in Montiel two years later. The principal antagonists in this conflict were King Pedro I of Castile and his bastard half-brother Enrique de Trastámara.
