ABSTRACT

Our intention is to provide a versatile guide for a range of practitioners who want the benefit of reflective practice, including:

Practicing and credentialed or accredited coaches and mentors

Other professionals/practitioners using coaching skills

Those undertaking practical training courses.

We hope it provides additional collateral for existing professional supervision relationships and that it will prove useful for organizations who want to create or support a coaching culture.

As such, this guidance for peer supervision is written as a practitioner manual and is structured in two halves. The first half of the book focuses on setting up and running both one to one peer supervision (also referred to as individual supervision) and group peer supervision. The second half supports the peer to peer relationship to both working together better and to extend the usefulness of peer supervision.

In addition to the individual practitioner, we recommended this book for training programs and a practical guide for peer learning groups. Our ambition is that professional supervisors will recommend it to their supervisees to enhance the practitioner’s peer supervision, heighten their awareness and have greater recognition of how reflective practice on their work would benefit from professional supervision.
