ABSTRACT

Sharing your reflective practice with others can provide a meaningful and engaging way to better understand yourself and your preferences. We believe through both reflective practice and supervision, you will develop your own internal compass. This ongoing commitment to self-understanding and the impact to the way in which we work is what creates mastery.

Reflective practice is a generative and an enjoyable way to advance your professionalism and this chapter includes many creative avenues to expand your Three C’s: Competency, Capability and Capacity (Broussine, 1998). In this spirit, this chapter explores how to make reflective practice a foundational cornerstone of your consistent development. We share with you how you might develop mindful reflection, from reviewing what has happened through to adjusting how you are in the moment with your client. We hope this chapter helps you design an approach to reflective practice that works for you and which resources you as you navigate your path to mastery.
