ABSTRACT
This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book offers the exploration of digitally mediated liturgical practices. @Worship signals what might be characterized as a "digital turn" in liturgical scholarship. This digital turn is but the latest in a line of scholarly turns that have marked the field of liturgical studies and other scholarly disciplines with increasing speed over the last century or so. The book focuses on the many questions surrounding digital presence, virtual bodies, and online participation in liturgical practices. It pursues issues of ecclesial community formation in cyberspace. The book explores the worlds of digital materiality, visuality, and soundscapes. It seeks to forge a path through the vexing questions of sacramental mediation online. The book concludes by drawing together the insights of the previous chapters and re-envisions the work of liturgical studies, in and for digital worlds.
