ABSTRACT

This chapter investigates how a South African social enterprise aims to make a dent in the rampant unemployment problem plaguing South Africa. Through analyzing a unique single case study, we show how a social enterprise, well embedded in its environment, can make a difference. The findings suggest that through its dialogue with the job market, the training it provides, and its emphasis on changing mind-sets, it helps to improve the lives of thousands of job seekers. We conclude this chapter by relating the findings back to the larger picture to see what lessons can be drawn from this case study.
