ABSTRACT

The Introduction to this book begins by making a case for addressing mental health via the body. It includes both research statistics on mental health, pointing to the need for exploring varying therapeutic interventions, as well as an experiential section, where the reader is invited to explore first-hand how one movement or breath can bring about a shift in mood. Finally, the Introduction emphasizes the role of yoga as a complementary practice, cautioning against its use as an alternative one that replaces other treatment options without consultation with a professional.
