ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on the other category of practices that may be adopted after grounding has been established: ones designed to calm and soothe (langhana). It provides the context in which these would be used: anxiety and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD)-related disorders. The chapter guides the professional on how to begin at an energy level that meets the client where he is, and then gradually transition to calming practices. The final portion discusses calming practices that also build focus, for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). A variety of practices is provided so that the therapist may select what would be most appropriate for the client.
