ABSTRACT

Chapter 6 connects the final dots and translates the train of thought presented in all previous chapters into a call for action to hospitality businesses and professionals. It explores the implications of this call for action in regards to the business models that hospitality companies need to create and apply. It describes the contours of these business models and some of the mechanisms that need to be incorporated, and shows how these align with the topics discussed in the previous chapters. Finally, it discusses crucial additions to traditional hospitality competencies to explore the characteristics of so-called sustainable hospitality competencies; the competencies that current and future hospitality professionals need to master to answer to the call for action presented in this book.
