ABSTRACT

In this chapter three tools are presented that help individuals to identify the aspects of work that are particularly important to them and that are most likely to lead to a more fulfilling career. The first tool looks specifically at job satisfaction. Combining empirical evidence and personal history, it offers clients a framework to help them to crystallise the factors that have made them happy at work in the past and then encourages them to use this information to help narrow down their future options. The second technique draws from art therapy and offers coaches a tool that can help clients to capitalise on their unconscious knowledge stored as images. In the final technique clients are encouraged to think about how they view the world of work using the personal constructs model.
