ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on the appropriate sources for this investigation especially concerning occupational and pedagogic knowhow. It offers some approaches that may be applied to the training of these teachers/deliverers in a holistic manner or 360-degree training bringing together the relevant occupation and pedagogic know-how to support them in their teaching. The chapter discusses the knowledge and curriculum formation where the appropriate types of know-how, resulting from this investigation, are included in a teacher education curriculum. It focuses on curriculum implementation or its application. From a disciplinary standpoint, powerful knowledge includes the science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) subjects as they "offer predictions and explanations beyond any that are possible for those who have to rely only on everyday thinking". From a higher and professional education perspective, the Higher Education Academy (HEA) issued 'The UK Professional Standards Framework for teaching and supporting learning in higher education' document.
