ABSTRACT
This chapter examines the role Ben-Gurion's quality principle continues to play in Israel's defense doctrine. In so doing, it also emphasizes the dynamic dimension of this phenomenon. Technology has experienced massive changes since Israel's establishment and the initial formulation of its security doctrine. The principal foundations of Israel's national security doctrine were laid down in the very course of its War of Independence, and for several years thereafter, by David Ben-Gurion, Israel's first Prime Minister and Minister of Defense. Designers of Israel's security doctrine soon realized that Israel's position as the most computerized country in the Middle East made it extremely vulnerable to cyberattacks––especially on its civilian systems. The accumulated experience in cyber security by organizations included in the list of critical infrastructures led to further development in Israel's increasingly sophisticated cyber thought. The chapter demonstrates modern cyber warfare which constitutes its most relevant contemporary expression.
